Manufacturing Styles & Special Coatings
Weave/Knit Styles
Knitted Tadpole Tapes:
Made from knitted fiberglass cloth formed over a knit braided fiberglass rope core.
Core can be made of other heat resistant material.
Woven Fiberglass Tadpole Tapes:
Manufactured from a woven fiberglass cloth formed over a dense knit braided fiberglass rope or heat resistant core.
Aluminized Tadpole Tapes
- Use: Sealing oven doors, covers, ducting, expansion joints, burners, and applications requiring conformance to uneven flanges.
- Attachment: Tail/fin section can be attached to metal or refractory surfaces by bolting, metal strapping, or sheet metal screws.
- Unique Feature: Can be welded to refractory surfaces because of its metal mesh cover.
- Options: Both the inside and outside of the tape can be aluminized.
Graphited Fiberglass Tadpole Tapes
- Service: Engineered for high temperature, low pressure services.
- Abrasion: Graphite Coating provides more abrasion resistance.
- Aesthetics: Black color gives a more blended appearance to the unit it is applied to.
- Durability: Graphite Coating is permanent at high temperature.
Adhesive Back Tapes
- Properties: Heat and flame resistant, often made with thermal insulating fiberglass.
- Temperature: Withstand continuous exposure to temperatures of 1000 degree F.
- Common Use: Gasket/seal for access doors and gate valves.
